Looking For A Church?
Are you looking for a church? Many of us look for churches about like we shop for cars: assuming any will get us where we want to go, we opt for the one that has the most features we like.

What features are we looking for? Convenience, a nice facility, an interesting (and not too long-winded) preacher who is cool and trendy, friendly people, exciting worship, and usually, lots of social services: day care, schools, recreation, support groups, health care classes, holiday activities, etc.

Some look especially for a church in which they can exercise their talent: athletes look for one with a good ball team, actors look for the one which puts on good dramas, and musicians look for one with a band, orchestra, and choir.

Doctrinally, what are we looking for? More often than not, one that says what we already believe. Of course, since so many think it doesn’t matter what you believe, a church’s doctrinal stance is usually not high on the shopper’s list. Positive preaching, based on a little Scripture, is pre-ferred. And don’t talk about other religions.

Some are looking for a church that will accept them just as they are, without making needed changes in their lives.

Have you ever thought about what GOD wants in a church? He does not like them all. Some are so disgusting He spits them out (read Revelation 2 and 3). How can we know what He wants?

The Bible is a revelation from God. The Holy Spirit guided the men who wrote it. When we read it, we can understand God’s will for us (Eph 3:3-5; 2 Tim 3:16,17). It is a pattern for us to follow (2 Tim. 1:13).

At the StoneRidge Church Of Christ our desire is to do exactly what the Bible teaches; no more, no less. When the New Testament commands a thing, we want to do that. If it does not authorize a thing, we refrain. It’s that simple.

We have no denominational affiliation because denominationalism is no part of God’s plan. We are simply a group of Christians, dedicated to following the Lord as He has directed in His word. If that is your desire too, we welcome you. Let us study together.

We may give without loving, but we cannot love without giving.

The door to the human heart can be opened from the inside.

Let us be the first to give a friendly sign, to not first, smile first,
speak first, and – if such a thing is necessary, forgive first
