• Dealing with a Preteen

Dealing with a Preteen Most individuals know the story of Jesus being separated from His parents because they accidentally left Him behind after observing the Passover. He was only twelve years of age, but this event shows just how sincere … Read More

  • After a Promise is Confirmed

After a Promise is Confirmed The Gentile churches in Galatia were being troubled by Judaizing teachers who sought to bind the keeping of the Old Testament law (specifically circumcision) on them. Both Jews and Gentiles could recognize that God’s threefold … Read More

  • A Desire to Encourage the Builders

In the body of Christ there needs to be a continuing desire to encourage all the builders to build the church.

Desire is what motivates you to put into action anything that is accomplished in this world. Without desire nothing would ever get done. You're not going to want to do anything if you don't feel like doing it. Desire is something God put into us from birth. When you are hungry you desire food. When you are thirsty you desire water. Remember your creator in the days of your youth before desire fails because of age. Before your…

  • A Continuing Focus on the Purpose

If you have ever read or listened to Simon Sinek you have heard of the golden circle.  It is comprised of three words in a target:  What – The result (largest circle).  How – The process (smaller circle).  Why – The purpose or motivation (bulleye).   When Christians only focus on the what and how, we are not reaching our true potential as followers of Christ.  However, if we start with our why, what we do and how we do it will be greatly impacted.  For example, if I know we are to worship (What) through singing (How) and…

  • Conquering Difficulties & Disappointments

Well, who said that life would be easy? It is often filled with various trials and tribulations that can test our faith.  Our parents, teachers, friends, family, and mentors are who we may look to when trying to overcome our feelings of frustration and disappointment when things don’t go the way we wished.  Our behavior and attitudes are challenged at these difficult times.  Who doesn’t want to be liked, appreciated, successful, prosperous, accepted, part of the group, chosen, or promoted?  We spend so much of our “growing up” time learning how to find happiness and contentment.  We love it…

  • The Effect of Suicide on the Soul

The Effect of Suicide on the Soul Question: Is suicide always a sentence to hell? Answer: There is, within the church, a group of people that commonly is neglected, overlooked, and seldom discussed. Occasionally they may receive help through a … Read More

  • The Hope of Eternal Life
  • Creative Hopelessness

We are encouraged to spread the Good News as believers, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16). How are we sharing the Lord’s message of salvation in a world that turns a deaf ear to it? Oftentimes, people are resistant to change because they don’t want to give up what’s familiar to them; yet holding to negative thoughts, feelings, habits, and behaviors does more harm than good.

In Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, the concept…

  • Friendship With God – Daniel Denham
  • The Bible and Homosexuality

Anyone who has the courage to speak out against homosexuality in today’s America should be prepared to be called a “hatemonger” and a “homophobe.”  Sometimes we are challenged by questions like, “Don’t you believe God loves every member of the human race?”  God most definitely loves every single human being on the face of the earth, and so should we.  But this does not require us to condone what the Bible clearly condemns as sin.  Consider what the Bible says about homosexuality:

  • Barnabas: Son of Encouragement

It's fitting that as we close out 2021 with our theme of “Let Us Rise and Build” and kick off 2022 with the theme of “The Gospel is for All” we're discussing Barnabas.  When we are first introduced to Barnabas in Acts 4:36-37, we learn that Barnabas is not his real name but a nickname that means “son of encouragement.” This was a nickname given him by the apostles and one which he definitely lived up to.  Barnabas started by encouraging those around him and building them up, and then becoming a missionary in foreign fields.

        Many times, when…

  • Counterfeit Doctrines

A local business owner told me he received a bogus $20 bill from a customer and did not realize it. It was discovered by a bank teller when he was making his daily deposit. When the bank showed him the fake bill next to a real one, he could not believe how little difference there was between the two. The color, shape, detail, and even fiber looked identical. The only difference was in texture, which the teller noticed right away because of her experience in handling real money.

If we are wise, we will realize there are many false doctrines in…
