In the holiday song, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” there is a line that says, “he sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness’ sake.” The implication is that if we are not good, Santa will know it and may not come to our house.
Yet, when one really thinks about it, shouldn’t we always be good for “goodness’ sake?” Should we be good just when someone is watching or just when Santa Claus is coming to town? Shouldn’t we always be good…
