After looking at a dozen or so translations, Job 33.23 is a bit of a challenge. Based on my study, I think the best translation is the one found in Keil and Delitzsch’s commentary.
If there is an angel as mediator for him, one of
a thousand, to declare to man what is for his profit.
To try to understand this, let’s begin with the context. Job 33.23 is in the long speech of Elihu. Elihu was a young man who had patiently listened to the discussion…
What If Everyone in Your Local
Church Was Like You?
People make up local churches. Thus, the stronger the individual Christians are who make up a particular local church, the stronger that church is. What if everyone in the local church was just like you? Would it be a church that is strong or weak? Would it be a church that is pleasing or displeasing to Christ?
If everyone in the church was like you, what kind of attendance would there be? Would visitors come and find an empty building on Wednesday nights? Do you make a habit of attending every assembly of…

They believe the Bible is God's Word, and must be respected in practice as well as in theory. They would not bind where God has not bound: nor would they loose where God has not loosed. They are people with convictions, willing to sacrifice popularity among men rather than deny the all-sufficiency of God’s plan. They invite constructive criticism,…
CHOOSING TO GET TO HEAVEN
Peter, was asked on the day of Pentecost by the Jews, “What must we do to be saved?” after realizing they were spiritually lost. Peter told them what to do and they obeyed.

The song Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing proclaims, “Here I raise my Ebenezer, hither by thy help I’ve come.”
This is a reference to 1 Samuel 7:12 where Samuel raised a stone and called it Ebenezer. The stone was named the “stone of help” to be a continual reminder to the Israelites of the help God had provided for them in their battle against the Philistines.
1 Samuel 7:12 Then Samuel took a stone... and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath Jehovah helped us.Throughout the Old Testament we see a pattern of God’s followers setting up visual reminders…
In Acts 16:20 , Paul and Silas have just faced a crowd, that rose up against them and beat them, for proclaiming customs not like those of the their own. The chief magistrates then tore off their robes, only adding to the humiliation, and ordered the chief jailer to guard them securely. He received this command and threw them into the inner prison, fastening their feet into stocks. Around midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
As Julius Caesar was on his way to the Senate meeting at which he would be assassinated, someone handed him a note that warned of the plot against him and even named some of the conspirators. But Caesar was too preoccupied to read the note.
On the final night of the Titanic’s tragic voyage, two messages from nearby ships came in, warning of heavy ice directly in her path. But Titanic’s radio operator was trying to catch up on sending messages for passengers. The first radio warning he acknowledged, but never delivered to…
