    The Value of Acceptable Worship

“The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father…

    Oh Lord my God

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

This poem How Great thou Art, was written by a sailor. Carl Gustaf Boberg as he walked through the country side along the Swedish coastline in 1885. That afternoon he was awestruck by the perfect beauty of what God had created.

Have you ever been struck by the beauty and the majesty of Gods creation? Have you ever watched a sunrise or a sunset or starred at the stars at…

    Thank You for the Flowers
"Please God — grant me calm and peace.
    I know you are listening.
I know you love me and care for me.
Help me have a positive attitude and
Serve as an example for others."

While dealing with a health issue and receiving a disappointing, yet non-life-threating report, I prayed this prayer. The morning after returning home from the hospital I retreated to my safe place, the back porch. Directly in my line of sight, standing tall and perfect, were Pink Ladies. Full-bloom and a soft pink, the only color among all the greenery…

    Where is Your Garden?
"I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses:
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear: the Son of God is calling"
    (In the Garden)

Recently I listened to this old hymn by C. Austin Miles with fresh ears. As a child, my mood would turn gray and my heart would fill with sadness when singing this song. Perhaps I associated the tune with funerals for members at our small country congregation or maybe it was because we sang it slowly, with emphasis on the fermatas (held notes). Today…

Kiss the Son and Betray Him or Kiss the Son and Revere Him
Torches light the way through the Kidron Valley as soldiers and officers angrily approach Jesus of Nazareth. One of the chosen twelve steps from the group and greets his friend with a kiss (John 18:1-11). He approaches as one very familiar with Christ using the sign of brotherly love to identify his teacher to the authorities (I Cor. 16:20). How hypocritical of Judas: a demonstration of respect which will lead to murder. This is just another form of torture Christ has to endure although He knows the prophecy is going to be fulfilled (Prov. 27:6 & Psa. 41:9). The follower's…

    Modesty is More Than Dress
"Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness." (1 Timothy 2:9-10, NAS95)

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works." (1 Timothy 2:9-10, KJV)

In this verse the discussion of what you "put on" is a demonstration of…
